8  Demanding  Direction – Statement requires or directly commands an action that the children must do or not do.  Tutorial – A question the adults knows the answer to.  Query – A question the adult does not know the answer to.  Non-demanding  Information – Facts and observation given to describe, advise and enlighten.  Social – Statements said for social reasons. This includes teacher repetitions of what the child just said [and anything that does not fit into the other categories].
