3 Painting Styles  He would paint things that would look very flat.  He would then paint things that looked so round that it seemed like you could pick them off the painting.  At 19, he moved to France and began painting like other French artists such as Van Gogh, Gauguin, and Monet.

4 Blue Period  Picasso’s best friend died and he felt alone and sad.  Also, he was almost starving to death because his paintings were not selling.  Because of his mood, he began to paint using lots of blue.  All of the people in his paintings looked lonely and sad.

7 Guernica In 1937 a civil war in Spain left a small town called Guernica destroyed by bombs. Many innocent people were killed which made Picasso very angry. He created a huge painting (12 feet high and 25 feet wide) and used darker colors, cubism, and lots of expression to show his angry feelings.
