14 Colleges are a great source for scholarships Colleges compete for the best students A common strategy is to apply to several colleges and compare financial award packages. Some scholarships require a separate application. Some scholarships are automatically reviewed with admissions applications. Private colleges often have much more scholarship money available than public schools. Small liberal arts colleges, especially in the Midwest often offer good scholarships. Geographic diversity can work to your advantage.
