Rendering Perspectives

Nothing in a rendering is comprised of just one color. All materials in a rendering are a product of a variety of colors and their values. 4 marker colors and 3 pencil colors were used to render this wood sample. Rendering Media: Markers & Pencils

decide the direction of the light the side directly opposite of the lightest side will be the darkest side rounded surfaces gradually change from light to dark value flat surfaces abruptly change value at the corner Rendering Volume

White space/highlights and value change bring realism to these pieces. Marker Rendering: Furniture

Basic color is applied, value added, details and reflection added. Marker Rendering: Furniture

Basic colors applied, values added, detail and highlights added. Marker Rendering: Furniture

A loose rendering style incorporates white space/highlights and value change. Marker Rendering: Furniture

in a loose style, two values of purple are used for the upholstery black and brown are used for the frame white space is incorporated in both the seat and frame Marker Rendering: Furniture

white space is maintained for highlights darker values add depth and realism shadow is added to establish a ground Marker Rendering: Furniture

value changes when the plane changes notice the highlights and value changes on this chair Marker Rendering: Furniture

Two renderings of the chair using marker and colored pencil. Marker Rendering: Furniture

plants in plan view Rendering Plants

Squiggles are used to represent foliage. Trees in the background are darker. Shadows are placed on the underside of the foliage. Rendering Plants

olive greens are used for the foliage highlights and plane change are integrated into containers various colors and dark values bring dimension to these plants Rendering Plants

creating an illusion of depth shadows were added below and to the left of the vine mass a darker value of green was added to the lower left side of the vine mass lighter green was added to the top of the mass pencil wash was added for texture Rendering Plants

begin with the sketch; apply light color add dark values and color repeat Rendering Trees

water reflects the surrounding colors Rendering Water

white gouache was applied to the vertical water and wavy lines were made in the pool dots of white gouache were stippled into the crown of the water jet and the splashes in the pool Rendering Water

reflections go straight down into the water from the base reflected object the reflection is the same length below the base of the object as above colors are reflected in the water but lines are wavy Rendering Reflections

shiny materials in interiors also reflect objects and people the reflection is rendered in the colors of the object reflected the reflection goes straight down from the reflected object Rendering Reflections

ASSIGNMENT #10 render a copy of your hand drawn direct perspective and a perspective view from your furnished SketchUp model using a combination of markers and colored pencils be loose and relax—try to ENJOY it instead of being critical of yourself Rendering Perspectives
