Competitive Human Resources 3 SITUATIONER Over three (3) million workers are without jobs Many quality job opportunities in a number of sectors in the country are left unfilled because of the persistent problem of jobs-skills mismatch

Competitive Human Resources 4 SITUATIONER 9 KEY EMPLOYMENT GENERATORS (KEGs) : * Agribusiness, cyber services, hotel & restaurant, creative services, medical tourism, health services, mining, aviation industries, and overseas employment. Kegs ARE PROJECTED TO GENERATE MORE THAN FOUR (4) MILLION NEW EMPLOYMENT FROM 2006 TO 2010, MORE THAN 1.2 million are expected to be generated from the years 2006 to 2007 alone. Competitive Human Resources 6 DIAGNOSIS OF THE CHALLENGE Mismatch in skills and labor market demands is due to decades long mismatch between our education system and the needs of Philippine industry TUCP-proposed legislation for a tripartite national employment planning board which will formulate the national employment policy

Competitive Human Resources 7 RESPONSE/COMMITMENTS TUCP and its allied organizations are committed to advocacy and its programs for skills training and life-long learning Joint programs in training of dependents of union members in the area of business process outsourcing, including call center training

Competitive Human Resources 8 Develop other training programs for specific skills under our workers college program to train young workers Pursue vision of social responsibility, our counterpart to corporate social responsibility. RESPONSE/COMMITMENTS
