2. Purpose of this Presentation o Review the Lowe’s Eagle Scout Project Impact Grant requirements. o Clarify the application process and reporting procedures. o Ensure that all have the contact information for Occoneechee Council Follow-Up Volunteer: Ed Miller Staff Advisor: Tyler Perkinson 2

3. The Grant and Occoneechee Council’s participation o Lowe’s Eagle Scout Project Impact Grant During 2012 more than 3,000 Scouts across the nation received $100 grants for their Eagle Scout service projects. Support continues with 3,600 grants beginning in July 2013 and continuing through April 30, 2014, which is the last day for (online) usage reporting. o Occoneechee Council Received 56 grants in 2012, all of which were awarded. Requested 25 grants for this year and have been approved by National. 3

4. Grant Application A Scout must have the following to request a Grant: o Eagle Scout Service Project Approval (the five signatures on page 2-4). o Lowe’s Grant Application Form (sent to the Council Follow-Up Volunteer). o The Council Follow-Up Volunteer will enter will enter the names and addresses of Scouts as they are identified. As these are received at the National office, Scouts will be sent their gift cards directly. o The applying Scout can mail or scan and send the completed Grant Application to the Council Follow-Up Volunteer at: Ed Miller c/o Occoneechee Council Eagle Service Desk 3231 Atlantic Avenue Raleigh, NC 27604 Or email at: EMillerBSA@aol.comEMillerBSA@aol.com 5

Grant Details o $100 prepaid card will be mailed directly to Scout’s home (different from last year). o Purchase of food and tools, or anything not directly related to your project with the card, is not permitted. o Allow 10 days for the card to arrive. o Receipts (required) and cards with any balance remaining are returned to the Council Follow-Up Volunteer. 6

7. Grant Details o $100 prepaid Discover Card will be mailed directly to the Scout’s home (different from last year). o Receipts are required to verify that items purchased were directly related to the Scout’s Eagle Service Project. o Unused cards and cards with a balance remaining are returned. 8

8. Additional Scout Recipient's Obligations o Obtain a receipt for each expenditure made with the card. o Take a few “before” pictures. o Display the Lowe’s poster at your project site. o Do the following as soon as possible after the project has been completed, but no later than April 30, 2014. Submit your receipts to your Council’s Lowe’s project Follow-up Volunteer. Take a few “after” pictures of your project, preferably showing what was purchased with the card. Submit three to five of your best “before” and “after” photos to your Council’s Lowe’s project Follow-Up Volunteer. Make a brief electronic report of your project (copy your Council Volunteer). If there is any remaining balance on your card, submit the card to your Council’s Lowe’s project Follow-Up Volunteer. 9

Electronic Grant Participant Report A Scout must have the following to submit his report. o The name of his Council. o Lowe’s project gift card number. o Scout’s first name and last name (as recorded by Lowe’s). o Phone number. o Unit type (Troop, Crew, Team, or Ship) and number. o The name and location of the beneficiary of your Eagle Scout Service Project. o The type of project you completed. o A brief description of the project. 10
