26 Knowledge Driven Health
4/12/2017 2:51 AM Knowledge Driven Health Microsoft has a compelling vision for healthcare that targets improved health outcomes and patient safety across the continuum of care - not just in the developed world, but truly around the globe. Our vision centers on the promise of a personal, dynamic, portable and complete health record for everyone, in every country. This stems from an understanding that technology has a very real and proven ability to drive transformation. This transformation is achieved by arming health workers and consumers with the best knowledge at hand, in the most time effective manner, while eliminating geographic barriers. Our commitment to knowledge driven health extends across small physician offices and clinics; large hospitals and health systems; homecare services; and individuals, who are increasingly tasked with assuming responsibility for their personal health. As one of the largest global citizens, Microsoft’s interest in effecting change in healthcare is personal as well as corporate. As an employer of over 70,000 people and an insurer of over 160,000 individuals, Microsoft is actively exploring the potential of technology to reduce the costs associated with healthcare, while improving the quality of health outcomes. As part of its ongoing research and development efforts, Microsoft is continually assessing its broad technology platform for ways in which industries like health can best leverage its capabilities for breakthrough innovation. In some cases, this translates into tailored solutions like Microsoft Dynamics, which addresses customer relationship management and financial challenges faced by health organizations; or like Azyxxi, a hospital solution developed on Microsoft technology – and recently acquired by Microsoft - to improve access to, and usability of, clinical data. In other instances, Microsoft works with a broad ecosystem of partners – industry software vendors and systems integrators – that combine their deep knowledge of the health system with the broad capabilities of our rich, software platform, to develop breakthrough solutions that benefit stakeholders across the spectrum of care. © 2006 Microsoft Corporation.
