ONYX RIP Version Technical Training General

Overview General Messaging and What’s New in X10 High Level Print and Cut & Profiling Overviews In Depth Technical Review Product UI Quick Set Workflow Changes Smart 16-Bit Processing Job Based RIP Options Updated PostScript RIP Service Integration

“ It can be difficult and time consuming to profile new media” “PDF Files not being handled correctly costs me time and money!” “I need to stay competitive on color quality and price “I need more production automation” “Reduce my production costs without compromising quality” When Asked About What They Wanted in a Next Generation RIP Workflow People Said: “I need greater control over my workflow and output quality” Messaging

Improved Profiling Process Flexible and Automated Print & Cut Workflow Better File Handling & Enhanced User Experience What’s New In X10 Messaging

Flexible and Automated Print & Cut Workflow High Level Overview

We consolidated all of the Cutter options to the main dialog of the Quick Set Cutter Path Prefix is now enabled by default Quick Set Changes High Level Overview

Added Contour Cutter as a Job List column Jobs are nested based on Cutter selection “I need greater control over my workflow and output quality” RIP-Queue Considers Cutter Selection for Nesting and Unattended Printing High Level Overview

Automatically select predefined cutter settings through CutContour suffix Layers in design create layers in cutting Disable layers by un-checking boxes Select any cut path and hide or delete it from cutting Automated Application of Setting And Path Control Tools More Detailed information in the Cutting Workflow training High Level Overview

Improved Profiling Process High Level Overview

Easily Navigate Through Media Manager Improved Profiling Process

Fast Easy Profiling “ It can be difficult and time consuming to profile new media” Streamlined UI and Easy to follow Steps Advanced tools hidden by default “I need to stay competitive on color quality and price High Level Overview

Automated Ink Restrictions Print and Read Ink Restriction swatch for most printers Use the Ink Restriction print dialog to eliminate bleeding per channel Ability to adjust Ink Restrictions under Advanced “Black Diamond” step “I need greater control over my workflow and output quality” “ It can be difficult and time consuming to profile new media”

Streamlined Calibration “I need greater control over my workflow and output quality” “ It can be difficult and time consuming to profile new media” Print > Read > Next Automated Profiling One Step Calibration Target Densities under Black Diamond

Multiple Ink Limit Options Simple swatch for easy selection Only non-automated step “I need greater control over my workflow and output quality” “ It can be difficult and time consuming to profile new media” New Basic Ink Limit Advanced Tools for grater Control

Dynamic ICC Build Options and New Enhanced Color Gamut Mapping ICC Presets auto select based on Ink Configuration ICC Options under Black Diamond “I need greater control over my workflow and output quality” “ It can be difficult and time consuming to profile new media”

Improve i-1 Device Support Switch between Patch and Strip mode on the fly Default mode is determined by which device the swatch is printed with Swatch read with a high variance highlight in red May not be wrong, simply a warning More information can be found in the Profiling Workflow training

Notes about drivers & new ink restrictions technology Some drivers do not have new ink restrictions technology Existing profiles still work Some drivers that have new technology may not work for every mode Please let us know if you encounter a problem Please use the legacy profiling process as a work around Virtual Pixel resolutions are not supported in new technology OEM Dot Patterns are not supported in new technology

Better File Handling & Enhanced User Experience

Other New Features in X10 Streamlined Quick Set UI Moved some of the most common items to the Basic Quickset screen Smart 16-Bit Processing Added to ONYX 32-Bit color engine for better color while maintaining production speed Job Based RIP Options Take Advantage of professional tools to set and define workflows that easily handle more complex jobs ONYX Links™ Web Customer Support Integration Easily Access Support Resources and Keep Production Going Native PDF/PS Raster Image Processing For more reliable and optimized file processing “PDF Files not being handled correctly costs me time and money!” “I need to stay competitive on color quality and price “Reduce my production costs without compromising quality”

New look and feel New banner with easy to find icons Clean flowing interface Same look across all modules UI changes

New Job / Quickset Options Bit Depth 8-Bit Smart 16-bit 16-bit Cutter Selection Choose your Cutter device as a job option Configure RIP settings Override system defaults to build job workflows Basic Quickset screen contains some of the more often used options

“Smart” / Selective 16-bit “Smart” means the software can choose when to apply 16-bit processing Default will remain 8-bit (bias towards performance) 16-bit should be auto-enabled in the following cases with Smart 16-bit enabled: 16-bit TIFF Images PS/PDF Images with 16-bit raster elements PS/PDF Images with large (output size) gradient blends

Slight color differences in output This is most noticeable in large gradient blends Potential performance impacts All elements in the image will be processed with the same bit- depth 1 6-bit may perform slower Varies depending on the complexity of the image “Smart” / Selective 16- bit Possible Concerns

Configure RIP settings per job Configure RIP Settings Global settings under Setup > Postscript > Configure RIP Job Settings in quicksets under the Postscript Tab Also find this by viewing job information in RIP Queue Also available in print options in Preflight No longer bound to global settings for all jobs. Ability to build workflows based on jobs being run

Most options that we may change here would be workflow related and troubleshooting related Changes made to jobs in preflight will not update Quicksets Workflows can be built with these options however we may not know if a file needs that workflow until it fails Configure RIP settings per job Possible Concerns

ONYX Service Product Integration Find solutions to failed jobs right from the software Right click and select “Find Solution” Highlight the job and click “Solutions”

ONYX Service Product Integration

Updated RIP Updates to support complete 16-bit processing paths New Defaults have been implemented for a better out of the box experience Built upon 7.3.2.P3 stability and file fixes

Automated Cutting Workflow Cutter options moved to Quicksets Cutter now considered as part of nesting New Cut Server Features Improved Profiling Process Print > Read > Next workflow Assisted ink Restrictions New tools for reviewing settings UI Changes Smart 16-Bit Configure RIP Settings as a job Service Integration Updated RIP Review
