4  Pupa: ◦ Resting stage ◦ Some insects pupate in cocoons ◦ Little or no movement ◦ Wings appear here

5  Adult: ◦ Adult stage often appears as vastly different than larva stage. ◦ Larva and adults may feed on completely different sources of food.

9  Nymph stages are similar in appearance to the adult stage except for SIZE (grasshoppers)  Lack wings  Several instars  Growth  Nymph stages generally feed on the same food sources as adults.

13  Some insect species complete their lifecycle several times each year (known as generations or broods).  Other insect species may require a number of years to complete one life cycle (17 year cicada).
