5 JUNIOR YEAR  Guided review of transcript  Goal setting  Narrowing college choices  College entrance tests  Financial aid overview  College visits  Pre-college calendar and entrance requirements

6 SENIOR YEAR  Deadlines for college/university admissions  College and career entrance requirements  Writing personal statements  Applying for financial aid, including our own CHS Scholarship Program  Counselors meet individually or in small groups to discuss the application process

7 Ninth Grade Matters: Orientation Program  Target: All ninth grade students (over 900)  Goal: Students become familiar with the credit system of high school, graduation requirements, a-g requirements, college and career center, post high school options and understand the importance of good attendance, study skills and homework completion.  All students develop a 4 year plan

8 Ninth Grade Matters: Orientation Program Content  Guided tour of the resources available in the College and Career Center  Informational presentation with handouts, a post high school option resource sheet, and a 4 year plan.  1 st week: Physical Education department gives the students a tour of the College and Career Center.  4 th week: Presentation and the completion of the 4 year plan is implemented in English/language arts classes. 9 Ninth Grade Matters: At-Risk Program  Target: Students who are academically at-risk (below 2.0 GPA)  Goal: Personalize the high school experience, help students take further ownership of their high school career, identify why they are not being successful in school, and learn strategies for success.  Academic success tips are taught
