Managing Student Access

What will we cover Registration Options Student Uploads Login Options Alumni Access versus Student Access

REGISTRATION OPTIONS

Registration Options There are 3 different ways student accounts can be created in the system: –Open Registration –Restricted Registration –No Registration

Open Registration Students register on their own from your student login page All registrations go through a Student Pending Bin for administrator approval

Restricted Registration* Student registers on their own from your student login page, just like Open Registration Student IDs are checked against your Firewall to determine if the student is allowed to register No approval needed through the Student Pending Bin *If using this option, all users (student and alumni) must use Restricted Registration

No Registration Student accounts are created via a student upload Student will be prompted to complete their profile when they log in the first time using the username and password created during the upload process

QUESTIONS

STUDENT UPLOADS

Why use student uploads? No Registration: As mentioned previously, this method will allow you to create new student accounts in mass Benefits: –Mass email all students, even if student is not actively using system –Easily create observation notes –Accurate reporting data

Types of Student Uploads Create New Only –Record Match = record is skipped –No Record Match = new record is created Update Only –Record Match = record is updated –No Record Match = record is skipped Create and Update –Record Match = record is updated –No Record Match = new record is created

Frequency of Uploads If you have support from your campus IT team, we recommend automating this process to have your uploads run on a nightly basis If not, manual uploads should be ran at least once a semester to create new student accounts and transition recent graduates from Student to Alumni in the system.

QUESTIONS

LOGIN OPTIONS

Login Options Direct Login to CSO External Login to CSO Authentication Login: 3 Types –Passthrough Authentication: Free –Shibboleth: Add-on Fee –LDAP: Add-on Fee

Direct Login to CSO Students will log into their CSO account from your CSO System’s student login page (https://www.myinterfase.com/siteid/student) using their CSO login credentials.

External Login to CSO Students will log into their CSO account from your career services’ website using their CSO login credentials.

Passthrough Authentication Student would log into their campus portal account and have a button or link to be passed into their CSO account. Can be done with or without doing uploads –If not doing uploads, open registration page cannot be used from student or alumni login pages. No additional fee

Shibboleth Student would log into the system using their campus shibboleth credentials. They would log in from https://www.myinterfase.com/siteid/student/secure, which would redirect to your shibboleth login page. https://www.myinterfase.com/siteid/student/secure Can be done with or without doing uploads –If not doing uploads, you can still use the open registration pages if needed because it will use a different registration page. Additional Fee and must already be using Shibboleth on campus

LDAP Student would log into the system using their LDAP credentials. They would log in from your regular CSO student login page (https://www.myinterfase.com/siteid/student), but when they log in their credentials will be checked against your LDAP directory and not against their CSO credentials.https://www.myinterfase.com/siteid/student Must be doing uploads Additional Fee and must already be using LDAP on campus
