3 Expectations/Behaviour  Role models for the school  Expectation to follow rules  Create optimum learning environment  Respect each other and adults  Wearing school uniform  New Behaviour Policy

4 Responsibilities/rewards  Responsibility around the school  Buddies/House Captains  Rewards in Classroom – regular achievement for good behaviour.  Extra privileges – green room, end of year celebrations, visits to secondary schools for Science etc..

5 Home learning  Expect all children to complete home learning at their own level  Expect most to take the ‘challenge’!  Please continue to share reading and learn times tables!  Maths passport – Year 6 to achieve all levels quickly!  Return home learning on Tuesday please.  Home learning club on Friday lunchtime

6 SATs  11 th – 15 th May  Preparation in school  Encouragement at home

7 Residential Trip  8 th – 12 th June  Isle of Wight  Arranged many daytime activities and outings  Costing - £325  Important time – fantastic experience!

8 Sex Education  Cover a sex education programme during this year  Covers puberty, relationships, childbirth, sex in the media  Opportunity to see DVDs before they are shown to the children – Date to be advised.

9 Internet Safety  Mobile phones – can be brought to school if absolutely necessary – must not be used in the playground before school and must be left in the office  Be aware of what your children are doing on the internet – including Xbox etc..  Social networking sites – Facebook is for children aged 13 and over  Be sure that your children personally know the person they are speaking to  Cyber bullying – be aware of what your children are doing on their phones/networking sites  Parents -please do not get involved in conversations about the school or other children on Facebook –please come and speak to us if you have a problem

10 End of Year!  Leavers party- 22nd July  Evening Performances – 16 th and 17 th July to parents  Final leavers assembly 23rd July

11 Secondary Transition Key dates  Selection test results - 17 th October  Final date for SCAF (secondary common application form) – 31 st October  Offers made - 1 st March  Website – www.kent.gov.uk – booklet online  All details in the leaflet. Online to look at school details and open day dates (only a couple of booklets available)  Visit school open days
