Northern Italy was INDUSTRIAL … … fast paced life …. Very MODERN Southern Italy was AGRARIAN … agricultural … life was slower … more TRADITIONAL … … standard of living was also lower Climate wise … north was bordered by the Alps … THUS SNOW … the south was MUCH warmer … grapes grown for wine YET … both parts of the nation needed each other for survival
