No matter where you’re going or what your plans are, follow these tips and tricks to have a safe and healthy spring break. Sponsored by the EIU Counseling Center

Wear Sunscreen. You’ll be happy later! Especially with the Illinois cold, warmer climates are good for the soul. Watch out though! Don’t let a sunburn ruin the rest of your vacation.

Don’t Carry Too Much Cash Use credit or debit cards when you can. Report a lost or stolen card immediately. Also, keep emergency money in a separate place other than wallet or purse. Hotel rooms usually have a safe to keep personal items in.

Never Let Your Drink Out of Sight Plan ahead on how much you will drink that night and know how you are going to refuse once you have reached your limit. When you’re out, watch how your drinks are poured and served. It’s better to be safe than sorry!

Avoid Casual Sex Practice safe sex always. There are too many dangers with casual and unsafe sex. Come prepared. Stop by Health Services to purchase condoms or attend a Rubber Lovers session and receive free condoms for a year.

Stay With Your Group When going out, stay with your group and make sure no one is left behind or alone. Being in a new location can be scary if left behind or alone. Have the phone number of everyone in your group and always have your phone charged when you leave.
