2 Middletown High Schools offer a diversified curriculum, a wide range of athletic and co-curricular activities and individualized student learning opportunities. The programs provide all students with a comprehensive education that promotes high levels of personal achievement and academic success.

3 PSAT Results All sophomore and juniors take the PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) in October. Many qualify to compete for National Merit Scholarships. Seven Middletown students were recognized as Commended Scholars. (Top 3% of the 1.5 million participants) One was a Semi-Finalist (Top 1% of the 1.5 million participants) One was a National Merit Scholar. (Top 8000 participants)

4 SAT Results Nearly 90% of our junior and senior students take the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) or the ACT (American College Testing) for college admissions. Our top performing students score well above the state average on the SATs and qualify for academic and merit based scholarships. Standardized test data are analyzed by performance within the school and as compared to other schools within our District Factor Group (DFG) and across the state. Middletown North and South were rated as high performing schools using the state criteria.

5 Advanced Placement Courses Something for Everyone! 24 AP courses are available: English: Language and Composition (grade 11) and Literature and Composition (12) Social Studies: US History, Modern European History, Psychology, Economics (Micro/Macro), World History, Human Geography, and US Government and Politics Mathematics: Calculus AB, Calculus BS, Computer Science, and Probability/Statistics Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics (Mechanical/Electrical), and Environmental Science World Language: French, Spanish and Italian Fine/Visual Arts: Music Theory and Studio Art

8 Individualized Learning Opportunities Arts High School (creative writing, vocal/instrumental music, dance, theatre/visual arts) Dual Credit Programs at Brookdale, Seton Hall and Rider University Independent Study (self-directed learning with a teacher facilitator for a specific curricular area) Senior Internship Project (experience the working world on Fridays from February to June) Tomorrow’s Teachers (provides students with classroom and field experiences) Civic Leadership (transition leaders, peer mediators, and community service initiatives)

Initiative In keeping with the global STEM initiatives and in response to the increasingly technology-driven job market, the Middletown Public School District will be providing our students with a solid foundation in the core STEM subjects in preparation for post-secondary college and career plans.

15 Middletown High Schools Your Best Choice! We provide a broad range of course offerings and electives in every subject area. All classrooms are equipped with resources and technology to enhance teaching and learning. Students can earn college credits prior to graduation. Many earn scholarships and admissions to Division I colleges/universities. There are Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity Team sports, many co-curricular activities and community initiatives to support good sportsmanship, leadership and citizenship. An experienced faculty and motivated students create a dynamic educational environment for success.
