3. What is involved in LC Music? 3 ELEMENTS 1. LISTENING: 4 Set Works, Listening skills & Irish Music 2. COMPOSITION: 16 bar Melody & 16 bar Harmony (Lesser req. for OL) 3. PRACTICAL: Performance (solo or group), Music Technology & aural test/sight reading

4. Structure of Exam/Marking Each element worth 25% Double one of the elements: YOU CHOOSE (Higher Elective = 50% overall exam) Example: I play an instrument(s) to a reasonably high standard so I choose to do a practical worth 50% (I will play 6-8 or 4 pieces & Music Technology)

6. What If I Haven ’ t Studied Music For JC? It is not impossible to do LC Music BUT you need decent practical standard which will allow you to catch up on Compositional (theory/writing) skills You would need to make some effort to catch up…before start of Poetry (5 th Year) THE REQUIRED PRACTICAL STANDARD 1 INST = Approx GRADE 5 (Better!!) (2 Instruments = not as high)
