To improve the student services of the international degree students Expected results: New student services tested and implemented in cooperation between the HEIs, i.e. orientation day, information events 4. To develop the process of international degree application Expected results: A tool for assessing the education background information of the applicant Best practices exchange between the HEIs, mapping of cooperation possibilities

To develop the contacts and cooperation with working life Expected results: Increased awareness of the international degree education supply of Oulu HEIs among the local companies and employers. 2. To enhance the cooperation between the different international degree programmes Expected results: Increased knowledge about each other among different international degree programmes New ideas and forms of cooperation

To promote the higher education institutions of Oulu, the international degree education supply and Oulu higher education area internationally: Expected results: 1. Development of marketing cooperation between the higher education institutions, the international degree programmes and the City of Oulu -> a common marketing plan and image for Oulu higher education area 2. Enhanced attractiveness of the Oulu higher education area especially in the target countries and groups -> common marketing actions 3. Increased number of motivated and potential applicants for the international degree programmes 4. Enhanced kowledge about the international degree study opportunities of Oulu in the local companies and other actors

13 PROMOTING THE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS OF OULU INTERNATIONALLY Background work - Mapping of the current student and applicant situation in the international degree programmes - Study of the strategies and action plans of the higher education institutions and the City of Oulu - Study of different reports concerning the international degree students in Finland and in Oulu - Interviews and online questionnaire for persons working with the international programmes (summer 2008) -International degree student interviews (summer 2008, autumn 2008)

Quality guarantee in studies Student is a centre of attention in small teaching groups and in an open and interactive learning environment. Personal study planning and support is available for all. Study and teaching facilities are of top quality.
