1. School Grounds Airth Primary School

2. All about us n Members of the School Grounds group work together to make decisions to improve our school’s outdoor area. This year our group have begun to transform our playground, making it more fun to play in.

3. Bottle Top Art n The whole school helped us collect bottle tops and create this impressive piece of artwork. Thank you P6 for putting this display together.

4. Making more space n We decided to move our scooter rail and containers to make more space in our playground. Thanks to Mr Burgoyne our containers were moved to the infant playground.

5. School Garden n The schools grounds group worked together to plant new flowers in the garden. Our playground is now more colourful.

6. Quiet Area n At the beginning of the year we decided this area of the playground was going to be our quiet area. There is now a comfortable place to sit in and read.

7. Help from the community n Community service have been very helpful and have built different things for our playground. Here is the storytelling chair and archway they have built for us.

8. Den Building n P6 visited Larbert woods and collected lots of logs for our playground. P3 enjoyed using the logs to make this den at lunchtime.

9. Parent Involvement n This year Mrs Nash has been a part of our group. Mrs Nash has helped us make important decisions and helped us contact outside agencies in the community. We have enjoyed having Mrs Nash in our group and want to thank her for all of her hard work.

10. Next steps for our group… n In the upcoming months we are going to be working with the ‘Grounds for Learning’ team to further develop our outside area. n We plan to have a sandpit and decking built in the playground. Mr Flynn has kindly offered to build the decking and a hut for our playground. n The school’s PTA has bought us a sound system for our playground. We look forward to having this up and running. n We plan to work with the Rights Respecting Schools group, where together we will focus on the ‘right to play’.

11. Why join the schools ground group? n If you are interested in developing and changing the grounds you play and learn in then this is the group for you. We are looking for children who have great ideas to help transform our outdoor area.
