Scientific Method Eric Angat Environmental/Physical Science Teacher is an organized way in figuring something out.

Instructions 1. Watch the short videos. 2. Copy and answer the question.

5 steps of the Scientific Method 1. Ask a question. 2. Form a hypothesis. 3. Design and conduct an experiment. 4. Analyze the results of the experiment. 5. Draw a conclusion.

Why is the scientific method important? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2606GQmDqY&safe=active

Why is the Scientific Method important? Because when the scientific method is used to solve a problem. The procedure can repeated by anyone and verify the result/s. Because when the scientific method is used to solve a problem. The procedure can repeated by anyone and verify the result/s.

What are the parts of an Experiment? Independent variable ( IV ) Dependent variable ( DV ) Controlled variable

Independent variable ( IV ) is the factor that you changed in the experiment. Dependent variable ( DV ) is the factor that we measure. It is the result of the independent variable. Controlled variable are the factors that remained the same throughout the experiment.

Copy and answer the following Questions in your Notebook. 1.What was tested in Mr. Koning’s experiment? 2. Why was Jacob’s suggestion regarding the experiment not accepted by Mr. Koning? 3. How many Independent variable (IV) should there be in an experiment? 4. What was the independent variable in the experiment? 5. What was the dependent variable or measured data (DV) in the experiment? 6. What were the controlled variables ( CV)?

1.What was tested in Mr. Koning’s experiment? 2. Why was Jacob’s suggestion regarding the experiment not accepted by Mr. Koning? 3. How many Independent variable (IV) should there be in an experiment? The rate of plant growth. Because Jacob was changing so many variables. One variable only.

4. What was the independent variable in the experiment? 5. What was the dependent variable or measured data (DV) in the experiment? 6. What were the controlled variables ( CV)? Amount of water. Plant growth rate measured in centimeters. Amount of sunlight, type plant, soil, humidity, temperature, and location.
