Oct 2005 Education White Paper – e-Learning strategy Targets:2008 Learning Platforms - every pupil should have access to a personalised online learning space with the potential to support an e-portfolio 2010 every school should have integrated learning and management systems, a comprehensive suite of learning platform technologies (MIS integration)

5 Learning Platforms in Bedfordshire schools How have we arrived here? 2006 – Q2 Bedfordshire mini Pilot with small number of schools using a range of different Learning Platforms 2007 – Q3 Extended Pilot all schools – results of pilot majority of schools preferred Netmedia Learning Platforms 2008 – Q1 Evaluation for e-Learning Board Recommendation – all schools to implement Netmedia Procurement T’s & C’s

6 Learning Platforms in Bedfordshire schools Where are we going? 2008 - Q2 initiate procurement Three year deal to allow schools to fully embed Learning Platforms into school – continuity and collaboration 2008 – Q3 implementation for remaining schools 2008 – Q4 all schools to have a learning platform implemented 2008 – 2010 MIS pilots and evaluation

7 Learning Platforms in Bedfordshire schools Where are we now? 165 schools engaged in some form with the learning platform Remainder to start training before Christmas 2008 Inclusion of content building up (SCORM) MIS review underway

Streamlined, cohesive delivery of education packages: The Learning Platform can effectively host interactive teaching and learning material for students, thereby allowing them to access course material anytime, anywhere. Supports student led collaborative projects and cooperative working, such as discussion groups in safe virtual environments than say, My Space or MSN live or Facebook. Central place for staff/governors/parents to access materials specific to their responsibilities (anytime, anywhere) Policies, diaries, information regarding school matters Information on student attainment, progress, attendance
