Bangalore – Standards in Education Opportunities o Background o March 11, 2010 CAG outreach initiative at Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore o Audience approx. 20 participants, mostly faculty from various colleges o Audience was engaged and interested o Gained understanding of the importance of standards in education o Opportunities for Standards in Education o BMS College of Engineering – Department of Telecom Engineering o Intends to create/add a new 2-credit course introducing standards and their importance in the undergraduate curriculum during the final semester (of 25 lecture hours) o Needs IEEE support: o Access to standards at low or no cost o Mentor to share experience in teaching a course introducing standards

Bangalore – Standards in Education Opportunities o Opportunities for Standards in Education o Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering – Department of Electronics and Communication o Intends to introduce case studies/mini projects using standards o Needs IEEE support: o Provide access to standards at low or no cost o Examples of mini projects that can be given to students at UG or PG levels o Mentor to help introducing the mini projects in course curriculum

New Delhi—Standards in Education Opportunities Ministry of Standards and Technology— Standards, Testing, Quality, and Certification Division (MIT-STQC) –Have worked extensively with IEEE Stds 829, 830, 12207 –Provide training to Indian companies on testing to these standards –SA staff looking at using MIT-STQC’s certification work to IEEE 829 and 830 as an SA case study involving India  Case study may be useful for SEC programs
