Agenda 08:45 Administrative matters 09:00 Overview of project (Lewis) 09:30 FCC Algorithm: concept, theoretical basis and model testing (Lewis) 10:30 Application of the FCC model to satellite data (Gomez-Dans) 11:15 coffee 11:30 3D Modelling: measurement, modelling and FCC testing (Disney) 12:30 Thermal measurement and modelling (Wooster) 13:00 Lunch 14:00 Recommendations (Lewis+Disney+Wooster) 15:00 Overall Discussion (Lewis) and AOB 15:30 End

Milestones  Contract signatures  Mid-Term Review (MTR) meeting  Final Review (FR)

Schedule: KO 1 May 2008: End 30 May 2010 slippage due to staffing

Deliverables

WP Definition: WP 10: Review element for the Algorithm Validation Plan (AVP) and Algorithm Theoretical Basis Document (ATBD) WP 11: Data Selection and Collection WP 12: Development of AVP and ATBD WP 20: Forward Model Implementation WP 21: Sensitivity analysis WP 30: Model validation WP 40: Model inversion (TN 8 subsumed) WP 50: End-end simulator (e2e delivered) WP 60: Recommendations (now TN 8) FR delivered

Big picture  In essence, have developed a new method to estimate impact of fire from pre-/post-fire reflectances – Method is simple & could be implemented in operational algorithms  Based on ‘generic’ spectral model – 2 parameters – Capable of describing char/ash/exposed soil (at least dry soil)
