9. BARRIERS TO CREATIVITY Cultural: traditions often rely on conformity. Emotional: fears of making a mistake; seeming foolish; fear of the unknown; reluctance to play. Perceptual: the inability to break away from patterns so can’t see the finer details’ overvaluing the real world. Environmental: classrooms that fail to stimulate or challenge; lack of resources, no time to “play”, or experiment.
