Oracle iLearning (OiL) Full featured LMS; stand-alone program with integration to eBS For organizations with an eBS installation who need to train their workforce and extended enterprise For organizations using JDE (ELM can also be used) For organizations doing for-profit training For organizations without Oracle, JDE, or Peoplesoft HCM Oracle Learning Management (OLM) Full featured LMS; a module in eBS For organizations using eBS whose primary focus is internal workforce development From time to time there has been some confusion in regards to what is Oracle iLearning and what is Oracle Learning Management. Oracle iLearning: Is a full featured LMS that can handle both e-learning and classroom based training. It is a stand-alone program and therefore not part of Oracle eBS. It is part of the Apps. Unlimited program. It is the preferred solution for organizations who provide training to both their workforce as well as extended enterprise; for organizations with a JDE installation; for organizations doing for-profit training; and for organizations who do not utilize Oracle, PeopleSoft or JDE HCM iLearning was originally created as a multi-tenant e-learning management program, but handles both e-learning and classroom based training. Oracle Learning Management: Is a module in the Oracle eBS, it is part of the HCM modules It is the preferred solution for existing Oracle eBS customers or customers planning on installing eBS whose primary focus is workforce development Formerly “Online Option” was OLM’s e-learning module, this is now part of OLM OLM was created as classroom management system, but handles both e-learning and classroom based training. Data can be created in iLearning or importet from an LDAP directory or an HCM system. Managing content – importing, managing and organizing the training content and creating tests and surveys. SCORM compatible and other web-playable content can be playd and managed by iLearning. Publishing offerings – associating a group of learners with a piece of content and maybe also resources, instructors and a schedule. Playing offerings – the actual training where the learners use iLearning to play the content, use the associated resources and collaborate with other learners and the instructor. You can buy a traditional one-time license and install iLearning in-house on your own hardware. You can also buy the one-time license and let your iLearning be hosted on Oracle’s or one of Oracle’s partner’s hardware for a yearly fee. You can use iLearning as Software as a Service . Here you pay a fee once a year which include both the license and the hosting. If you want to get up and running quickly and don’t want to invest up-front, iLearning as Software as a Service is a good choice. You can also go one step further than Software as a Service and go for Business Process Outsourcing. This means that not only will all aspects of running iLearning be handled for you, but the administration of your iLearning site and your users will be taken care of as well.
