2 2 Classroom Implications - Overview When we take on the role of E-Moderator, regardless of in which educational sector we work, we must take into consideration a number of differing factors. These factors may be grouped into: –Planning for Learning –Learning Implementation –E-Moderation and E-Administration –Educator Skill Development

3 3 Planning for Learning Educators must consider the following principles in planning e-learning episodes: –the need for authenticity –the need for a planned approach to teaching –the need for appropriate content –the need for appropriate methodology –the need for suitable delivery methods

4 4 Learning Implementation Educators must consider the following principles in implementing e-learning episodes: –the need for timely, reflective feedback –the need to manage the student dynamic –the need to model time management strategies –the need for flexibility –the need to develop strategies that allow for the absence of non-verbal communication –the need to regularly monitor and evaluate learners’ perceptions

5 5 E-Moderation and E-Administration Educators working for Governments Training Bodies, Schools or RTOs should carefully consider the following Queensland legislative requirements applicable to e-learning: –Public Records Act 2002 –Public Sector Ethics Act 1994 –Freedom of Information Act 1992 Full legislative versions are avaiable at: http://www.legislation.qld.gov.au/Legislation%20Docs/CurrentP.htm

6 6 Educator Skill Development To ensure continuous improvement, Educators must consider the following principles in their own skill development and maintenance: –the need for Training and Professional Development for E-Moderators
