3 3 National committee – Call on all stakeholders of society Institutions Local representatives Private sector NGOs & associations Faith-based organizations

4 4 Regional committee – Coordination on a regional level: readjustment/ evaluation of program – Has a triple role: coordination/ synergy/ emulation (enact)

5 International committee – Incorporates both bottom-up and top-down approaches – Small size (max 15 members) – Liaison with the UN and UNESCO

6 6 B. Elements/ Key areas of SD 3 Pillars reaffirmed at the Johannesburg Summit: – Environment – Society – Economics

7 7 Culture predetermines Culture must be taken into account in any ESD analysis and programs Global approach to education for SD Call upon the opinion leaders/local mayors and media
