1 THE MOSTLY TRUE ADVENTURES OF HOMER P. FIGG
BY: RODMAN PHILBRICK PRODJECT BY: EVAN CAUFIELD

2 GENRE This books genre is historical fiction because it takes place at the time of the civil war , witch did happen but the people and actions in the story are things that the author made up.

3 THE MAIN IDEA I think the main idea is to never give up because Homer did not give up even though he was captured by Stink and Smelt ( two murderers in the woods about if they should kill their captive slave or sell him ), escaped from general Lee in a hot air balloon, and tried to save his brother in the middle of a civil war battle!

4 CHARACTERS Homer Figg - main character ; Homer is trying to find his older brother who was sent out to war but was under age. Harold Figg – Homers older brother. Mr.brewster-A quaker man who adopts Homer and Harold. Squint- Homer and Harold’s cruel uncle. Mr.Willow-He was Homer’s gaurdian until Homer found his brother.

5 setting This story starts in Pine Swamp ,Main at the time of the civil war . This story takes place in woods, citys, battle fields and many other places! The setting in this story takes place at a time when the nation was divided into the north and the south because the north did not want slaves but the south wanted slaves and that is how this setting was formed.

6 Beginning, Middle, and End
Beginning- In the beginning Homer’s brother Harold was sent out to fight in the union army by his uncle Squint, but he was under age so Homer ran away to find Harold. Middle-Homer gets a gaurdian who helps him find his brother but they get separated by two pick pockets who trick Homers gaurdian into giving them the money. End- In the end Homer finds his brother and tries to stop him from running into battle by shooting by his leg but it makes a rock fly into his leg and then he was so infected that in the end his leg is amputated.

8 AUTHERS PERPOSE I think the author is trying to say that you should never give up like what the main idea says Homer never gave up because he knew that there was a chance his brother was still alive.
