3 The National Chapter Award Program focuses on a complete, balanced Program of Activities. The Program of Activities, or “POA” is your chapter’s road map or game plan for the year. The National Chapter Award is based on your local chapter’s POA. Local FFA chapters are recognized for working in established areas called “quality standards”. 7 Partners In Active Learning Support (PALS) The PALS program is a great opportunity to make a difference through your FFA chapter. In this program, FFA members are paired with elementary students. These pairs meet regularly throughout the school year. The activities usually focus on students’ interest in plants and animals. Other times pals might read together, go on field trips, participate in team-building activities, or attend special events. The activities help younger and older students stay excited about school and build trust, confidence, and self- esteem Participating in PALS Ask your advisor for more information or see the National FFA Online, www.ffa.org. Or use the PALS Student Activity Handbook, Vol. II. C H A P T E R E I G H T

8 Food For America Chapter Selections Chapter Selections The Food For America program helps FFA chapters introduce elementary students to the fascinating world of agriculture by showing them where their food comes from. To get younger students excited about agriculture, you and your fellow FFA members visit their classrooms and make a 30-45 minute presentation about agriculture. This program puts your FFA chapter at the center of community efforts to improve agriculture youth, safety, and health. Through this program, FFA chapters work closely with government, schools, and other organizations.
