3
Theme: Empowering the our Nation’s Youths, to become citizens that “Champion Humanity”, by giving to those in need, through acts of humanitarianism (outreach).” “ Empowering the our Nation’s Youths, to become citizens that “Champion Humanity”, by giving to those in need, through acts of humanitarianism (outreach).”
4
Aim To assist vulnerable persons in society whilst impacting the lives of all persons involved. To reshape and impact the younger generation’s mind to be more considerate and compassionate towards others in society.
5
Inspiration Redefining Our Youth’s Minds Most often times, criminal acts committed against others in society are done by young people. Many mature into adults, that do not understand the sanctity of human life. A Heart Created to Give… To capitalize and create opportunities that will add more meaning and value to persons in need. This is the essence of living. Footsteps of Elders To follow in the paths of those that have gone before to me or, are older, that demonstrated the value of giving, respecting and helping others.
6
About A network of people whose sole aim is to give, and to give with a difference. Impacting as many hurting and vulnerable lives as possible, whilst sharing hope, compassion and love. We are a body of individuals, that unite for the purpose of reaching out to those in need by creating opportunities to do so, while cementing a stronger bond between ourselves and the wider community. We give like no other; We share like no other. We give, we share, we love and we help like no other.

Outreach Report Year: 2009 Term: 1st Theme: “Giving a gift of love: by sharing warmth”. School: Ottos Comprehensive School GBC – Strikes Again! This time in the heart of St. John’s! The G.B.C. (the general biology club) of the Ottos Comprehensive School has done it again. Operation 2009 – an outreach project themed – “Giving a gift of love: by sharing warmth”. On 22nd December 2009, the members of this club, under the directorship of Miss Devine Thomas (Club Founder and Organizer and the school’s General Biology teacher) has sort to touch many lives this Christmas Season by sharing warmth (giving warm meals and warm clothing) to many vagrants and/or homeless persons in St. John’s. Essentially the student members were expected to travel the streets of St. John’s to distribute warm meals, warm clothing (blankets, sweaters and individually made Christmas cards) however, this was not done, since upon our arrival inside the Market square (our meeting location) many vagrants came instead searching for us. We didn’t have to travel the streets of St. John’s apparently word got around and so they turned up at our meeting location by the Market. Special commendations to the Bargain Center for the donation of the warm meals as well as to many of the parents of the student members and Red Cross for donating the warm pieces of clothing. Also a heartfelt thanks to the Club’s official sponsors the ABI bank for giving us our Club T – shirts. The response of the vagrants – many cried (possibly because they were remembered and thought about); some laughed and smile. Overall they were made happy and were blessed. The Students response – they were humbled and given a chance to appreciate the value of life, of giving to others and also realization of how blessed they are when compared to the less fortunate. One student commented, “We should do this again, these folks are not so bad or scary. All they need is just a little attention and care.” As the organizer, I myself was humbled and touch to the core of my being by this experience. My only regret is that I didn’t have more to give. Summary- We often take the things we have in life for granted by becoming ungrateful, complaining etc.; when really if we stop complaining, and comparing ourselves with these persons (homeless, vagrants) we would realized we have a whole lot to be thankful for. So we should count our blessings and be grateful for all that we have to enjoy this Christmas, (even if we didn’t get the gift we really wanted) Just Be thankful!

In a world that is filled with much pain and suffering, God has provided special angels to ease the suffering of others. I would like to express sincere gratitude to the many persons and entities that have assisted with the numerous humanitarian efforts held in the past. I would like to acknowledge the fact that, had it not been for the support of many, none of these outreach events would have materialized, nor gained the level of success that they all had. Having thus said - Special thanks to all that helped, supported, contributed, participated and prayed, which includes Parents, Students, Teachers, School Secretaries, Various Sponsors, Community Development Agencies and the National School Bus Association. I would like to extend a very special thanks to – Mrs. Ithlane Baptist Dipl., B.A, M.A, former Principal at the Ottos Comprehensive School. Mrs. Letiticia Lawrence Dipl., B.Sc., former Principal at the Irene B. Williams Secondary School. Mrs. Ursilla Willock Dipl. present Principal at the Irene B. Williams Secondary School These women supported the events in many ways. Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!
