Unlimited Government = government’s power has no limits. Usually no constitution or laws limiting the governments power Control is placed solely with the ruler and his/her appointees. No limits imposed on his /her authority. These governments have total control over their citizens. Can you think of a country today that has a government that we would consider unlimited government? TURN & TALK Answers---Iraq, North Korea What would you consider the governments Of Saudi Arabia (monarchy with council of ministers), China, and Cuba? In an unlimited government, what are the limitations of the government? Dictator Monarchy

Limited Government – What Is It Like?
Limited government = the power of government leader is limited by the constitution. Everyone, including all authority figures, must obey the laws. Individual rights of the citizen are protected by the constitution. The main goal of government is to improve the public good. Can you name a type of government that is considered a limited form of government? TURN & TALK The U.S. Is a good example of limited government. List some things that the U.S. government can not do to its citizens. (no housing of soldiers, can not put a person in prison without a trial, can not take away your property without just cause) List some things the U.S. government can do to is people. (can tax people, can require people to obey the laws) What is the difference between our government and the country of Saudi Arabia or Cuba?
