6 What does Level 2 and Level 3 mean?
Level 2 courses are GCSEs or GCSE equivalent Entry requirements: At least 5 GCSEs at grade mainly grades 4-1 Level 3 courses are A Levels or BTEC equivalents. 5 or more GCSEs at grade 9-4 including Maths and English at grade 4 or above

Collect your prospectus – these are individually named for each student, and will be arranged alphabetically Inside is your Course Choices form – these are pre populated with contact details and grades You will also have the map from the previous slide

Talk to subject teachers – find out the content of the courses Pick up subject overview for the subjects you are interested in taking Ask questions if you are unsure about anything

14 What next? After the Open Evening
Course Choices form needs to be completed and returned by  Monday 2nd December. You will study THREE Level 3 subjects Please indicate up to four choices from the list Please  to show you have checked the Entry Requirements OR You will study TWO Level 2 subjects Please indicate up to three choices from the list Write numbers in the boxes to indicate your preferred subjects (1=most preferred) OR tick the box for the Level 2 Beauty Therapy course.

15 How do you confirm your courses?
STEP 1: Work hard to get the best GCSE results possible and achieve your full potential! Check out the entry requirements for the subjects you wish to take. STEP 2: Complete your Course Choices form and submit it by 2nd December in order to have the best chance of securing your first choice of subjects. STEP 3: In January your son/daughter will be invited to a meeting to discuss their choice of subjects. You are also welcome to attend, and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about sixth form.

Research is vital! Degree level course A level subjects often required Biology Biology and another science or maths Chemistry Chemistry and sometimes maths and/or another science Dentistry Chemistry and one or two other sciences Engineering Maths and physics (or maths and chemistry for chemical engineering) Maths Medicine Chemistry and usually one or two other sciences. Some require biology Modern languages Usually the language to be studied – but this may vary for less common languages Veterinary Science Careerpilot parents section to mention
