3. COMPANY REGISTRATION IN IMDS
It is strongly recommended that the person registering the company be the initial Company Administrator as the system will the registration information, including a link to the ID, to the Company Administrator.

4. COMPANY REGISTRATION-IMDS CREDENTIALS
Please copy the IMDS credentials and store them in a safe place. They will not be displayed again, so make sure to copy them correctly.
Please ensure the address field is filled with the correct address as this is where the confirmation mail is sent. User IDs are assigned to individuals and not to companies.

7. HOW TO CREATE MDS FOR MATERIAL
Click on MDS => NEW=> DATASHEET => MATERIAL

8. CREATE A MATERIAL-NOT A SPECIAL MATERIAL
-Select a material classification (you only can select classification in black – the gray are the main categories and cannot be chosen)
-Once the selection is made, click Apply

9. CREATE A MATERIAL-INGREDIENTS
Fill in the material Name and No.
The name must contain a technical denomination
Standard Material Number –not all materials have a standard material number and the field is available only for the metallic classifications. Not all metals are manufactured to a standard. Unfortunately, there is no one right answer to the number that should be placed here as different regions have different numbering systems. However, one of the following two is preferred (although a case may be made for VDeH, EN or DIN)
UNS (Unified Numbering System -Metals and Alloys) and most of the IMDS Committee materials were entered with this number
Japanese standard is the JIS

Enter the entire compound, or a shortened version of it, or the CAS number and click on Search.
Find the right substance and click “Apply”

Click on the material and
repeat the steps to add
another substance
Add the Portion
If you go outside the Recommendation ranges, you will get a Warning: Range
of portion may not exceed allowed percentage. This is a warning and not
an error and IMDS will allow you to send. However your customer may choose not
to accept.

26. SEND MDS Send MDS System may find some errors,
correct them and send again

27. NOTE
Send is a one-to-one relationship. You cannot make any changes to a sent MDS unless it is rejected by the customer.
More recipients can be added for the MDS
Repeat the steps to created another component

28. SIMILAR PARTS UPLOAD TO IMDS
In case of multiple part numbers, please refer to the following instructions on the recipient data folder:
1. Part Number: insert the Part Number
2. Supplier code:
3. Multiple Part Number Function
Supplier shall create one MDS for each supplied part number using as much as possible the function “multiple part numbers” present in the “Company Specific” folder
If you have components that are similar to each other for weight (tolerance 2%) and chemical composition you can add the list of part number in one MDS.
Example:
Principal PN eg.12345
Similar PN: eg. 6789
