The directional center in Via Dell'Arte 25 consists of three elegant and rational buildings dating back to the 70s and located in the prestigious EUR district, one of the most important and famous tertiary poles of the capital. Building B, the largest of the buildings with about 20,000 square meters of offices, was the first to be completely requalified with the aim of recovering the architectural features of the facades and modernizing the interior spaces, making them more functional and flexible to the typical needs of contemporary workplaces. Sample text (high level project pitch) STRANDBADKIRCHBICHL is a visionary design project involving the construction of a new office building in a remote mountain region of Austria, with a design which reflected the crashing waves coming in from the nearby beach. Great technical skill and knowledge of interior systems was required in order to optimize lighting, acoustics and sound absorption within a very complex curved shaped structure which would not naturally provide this level of performance. This presentation will also be used on the book and on the website to present your project.

The complex offers high standards in terms of both technology and aesthetics, with advanced design solutions and systems – based on maximum energy efficiency and very low environmental impact – aiming at achieving the prestigious international LEED Gold certification.

Ad hoc solutions of high aesthetic and architectural value for all the ceilings, with an innovative stratigraphy designed to guarantee simultaneously fire protection of existing structures, adaptation to current regulations on fire protection, excellent aesthetic impact and exceptional levels of sound absorption.

The steel supporting structures and the existing floors have been previously covered by the light insulating plaster Gyproc Igniver, applied in different thicknesses, both on reinforced concrete supports and corrugated metal slabs.

In order to hide the existing beams and slabs, previously protected with Gyproc Igniver, the elegant customized ceilings, made up of particular curvilinear coverings (to create a series of spectacular "shells") and of perforated boards Gyproc Gyptone Big Line Activ'Air®, have been realized (900 mm rather that the standard mm) to be wedged between a joist and the other one. On the ground floor and in some office areas, Rigitone Activ'Air® 8/18 system was used.

Key challenges (write a max. 50 words paragraph)
e.g. Budget, Time, Space, Technical challenges before and during installation/application (Development of a new solution…) The applicator has molded the ceilings following the shapes of the existing structures, creating a customized layout. The objectives were: high aesthetic impact for an optimal match with the planned design high sound absorption for a greater working comfort in the open spaces Sample text Acoustics and light are the dominating elements in this project. The challenge was to allow maximal use of natural daylight using an unusually large funnel and integrating artificial lighting to complement natural light. The design however also had to provide an excellent level of acoustic performance in a challenging large open plan structure with high windowed ceilings. In addition to a combination of acoustics, sound absorption and light, there was particular emphasis on architecture and functionality through to the final finishing coating (Q4 surface quality) in order to meet the rigorous project standards.

Main Saint-Gobain products and systems used
Fire protection / Gyproc Igniver – R/REI 90/120 Bearing existing structures in all floors Acoustic absorption / Gyproc Gyptone Big Activ’Air® Line and Rigitone Activ’Air® 8/18 - w = 0,55/0,70 Open space offices Ground floor hall - Meeting rooms - Significant aesthetic impact Everywhere Air quality / Gyptone Big Curve Line 6 Activ’Air® and Rigitone Activ’Air® 8/18 - Absorption and neutralization of formaldehyde Key achievements?

Key achievements Explain why you succeeded in this project Aesthetic requalification of the interior spaces of the historic building Improvement of the acoustic absorption of existing historic spaces Air quality improvement in closed environments LEED GOLD certification Sample text Project delivered to challenging budget and time schedule Discussion throughout the process with the architect to optimize each design phase. Final result combines high standards for design / aesthetics, acoustic comfort, and optimal levels of natural daylight.
