They negotiate on their members behalf on:
The right to useful employment
The right ot organise and join Trade Unions.
They right to use ‘COLLECTIVE BARGAINING’ – joining the workers together to form one voice.

4. Influence
TU can be very influential as they represent the rights of a company’s most important asset.
They can have the power to stop workers from working.
It is imperative that businesses have a positive working relationship with TU and negotiation and consultation is ongoing

5. Industrial Action DRASTIC
Strikes – loss of production, bad publicity, bad relationship between staff and managers
Picketing – when strikers wait out the front of the company demonstrating against the company (often leads to violence!)

Aim to balance union power and increase productivity in industries
Provide advice and guidance to businesses and management
