2 What Is CPT? Curricular Practical Training
Authorized employment that is an integral part of an F-1 student’s curriculum Co-op Required for graduation Or tied to a specific course for the duration of the course

3 What Are the Requirements?
F-1 status for 2 semesters Exception: Graduate programs with required internships Employment must be related to field of study Must have a job offer letter Must be authorized by ISS before beginning work

4 Requirements Cont. CPT is date and employer specific
Must submit new application each semester and for each new employer Must be tied to a new class each semester

5 How Much Can I Work? May be employed:
Part-time (< 20 hours) Full-time (> 20 hours) No limit to CPT but 12 months of full time makes you ineligible for OPT.

6 Applying for CPT Meet with academic adviser - have employment letter on letterhead with: Job title Start and end dates of employment Number of hours per week Address of employment Brief description of work

7 Applying for CPT (cont.)
Have academic advisor complete the CPT request form: CampusCruiser → Committees → International Student Services → Work Documents → Curricular Practical Training Register for the appropriate course

Bring request form and job offer letter to ISS We will issue you a new I-20 within 1- 3 business days You must have the I-20 in your hand before you begin working
