UK-wide network for Islamic Studies academics to enhance teaching and learning in Islamic Studies, broadly defined Islamic Studies Network project team Lisa Bernasek, Academic Coordinator Team based at Higher Education Academy headquarters in York Staff from 6 Subject Centres of the Higher Education Academy Islamic Studies Network advisory board 18 members from institutions around UK Meet twice a year to consult on plans and advise on areas of focus Funded until September 2012 but looking at sustainability

Regional workshops For those involved in teaching Islamic Studies from all disciplines 22 October 2010, Edinburgh 10 December 2010, Oxford 9 March 2011, Lampeter May 2011, Leeds Postgraduate event For PhD students in Islamic Studies from all disciplines 16-17 February 2011, Birmingham Islamic Law Special Interest Group 10 November 2010, Warwick Business, Management, Accountancy and Finance Network Islamic Studies Think Tank 24-25 November 2010, Northampton Mention inaugural event in May 2010, building network from Jan 2010 Information, registration can be found in the events tab of our website

Projects Publications Quarterly online newsletter Biannual magazine Perspectives Online resources and networking Website: JISC Gateway JISCmail list Facebook, Twitter Ning: Projects – funded 2 projects in May and 2nd round of project funding closing next week – these projects will produce shareable resources, reports, etc that will be of benefit to the wider HE Islamic Studies community Newsletter and magazine – ensure you are on our mailing list to receive these by ing us Magazine: first edition to be sent out early November; now accepting proposals/submissions for the 2nd edition (deadline January) Website: info on activity, plus resources tab has reports and links to resources already developed (CSAP case studies, teaching Islamic law resources ) JISC Gateway of online manuscript collections and other online resources to be developed in next 6 months Ning: show Ning features, will all receive an invitation to join after the workshop
