5th grade is a preparation year for middle school.

7. Reading Homework Nightly reading of at least 20 minutes.

Weekly Comprehension Story handed out on Mondays; Due Fridays.

8. This is a rewards based program that our school purchased to encourage reading.
Students take short quizzes after reading a book.
Each quarter there is a special event for all 5th grade readers who make the quarterly goal of 30 points with 80% accuracy.
4th Quarter goal is 125 Points TOTAL for the whole year.
1st Quarter Event – Popcorn and Movie
2nd Quarter Event – Ice Cream and Extra Recess
3rd Quarter Event – Karaoke Party
4th Quarter Event – Game Truck and Laser Tag

14. Standardized Testing
5th Grade is assessed in ELA, Writing, Math, and Science. It is our goal to make sure your child is ready for these assessments and shows proficiency in all tested areas.
These scores determine what classes your child will take in middle school and also prepare them for middle school EOC Exams.
