SL , SL9-10.5, Friday, May 10th, 2019 Aim: How can we compare and contrast the film adaptation of Romeo and Juliet (1996) to Shakespeare’s original text? Objective: Students will be analyzing the choices the director made and compare them to the choices that Shakespeare employed in his writing. Agenda 1.) Do Now: Answer one or both questions, turn and talk with your tablemates. Captains will prepare to share with the class. 2.) Movie Viewing: Together we will watch the 1996 adaptation of Romeo and Juliet and comparing it to Shakespeare’s text. Looking at both will help us better understand the play. We will watch up until the start of Act V, which is where we are up to in our text. 3.) Review: When we are done with the play, we are going to have a quiz on Romeo and Juliet. We will review important events, themes, and other relevant information. (Kahoot!) 4.) Reflection: We are reaching the last act of our play. What do you like about the play, if anything? What don’t you like? Why don’t you like it? What would you change? Answer in a minimum of 3-5 sentences.
