Welcome What’s New for FY 2020 Important Dates Phase II Discussion

3 What’s New for FY 2020 Authorized 2% merit program
Benefits charged on E&G salaries Possible TRS rate increase Other rate changes The President has authorized a 2% merit program for FY Centrally funded accounts will receive allocations during Phase I of the budget. Beginning in FY 2020, benefits on E&G salaries will no longer be paid by central university funds. Beginning in FY2020, benefits on E&G salaries will no longer be paid by central university funds. Instead, each college & division will be allocated an additional amount in E&G funds based on FY 2018 actual benefit costs and/or salaries to cover these benefit expenses. Each college and division will have one E&G account established within the Dean’s or VP’s office that will receive the additional allocation and that same account will be charged for college/division E&G fringe benefit expenses. The Texas Legislature is currently considering legislation which may increase the TRS rate. The legislative session will end on May 27, 2019 and if legislation approves an increase the budget guidelines will be modified. See budget guidelines for increases to GIP, OASI, etc

Salary Savings for Non-Academic Vacant Positions will continue to be swept Non-academic staff positions may not be eliminated Resources posted on website budget.tamu.edu Non-academic staff positions may not be eliminated in Workday without the written approval of Joe Pettibon for academic units or Jerry Strawser in non-academic units Budget Guidelines, Calendar, FAMIS refresher
