October 29, 2018 Spotlight on Learning Reading: & Writing: Lucy Calkins informational/explanatory, R.A.C.E. strategy, story elements,, and guided reading. Global Read Aloud “A Boy Called Bat.” Social Studies: European Explorers Science: Pollution and Conservation Math: Unit 2 Multiplication and Division Please have your child practice multiplication Facts using flashcards. Upcoming Events Red Ribbon Week: Theme: “Life is Your Journey, Travel Drug Free.” 29th: PJ Day “We are dreaming of a drug free future!”   30th: Silly Sock Day “Using drugs is so silly.”   31st: Costumes/Character Parade “We are hooked on books, not drugs!” Parade at 8:30 Nov 1st:  Hat Day “Hats off to a drug free life.” Nov 2nd: Wear All Red “We have re(a)d your future and it is drug free.” 11-1: 2nd Grade Music Performance at 6:15 pm Teacher’s notes: This week we will finishing our unit on European Explorers. We will continue working on multiplication and division strategies. Reminders: ~Please remind your child to charge his/her Chromebook at home, and bring it to school each day. ~Homework is practice for mastery of 3rd grade standards. Your child will receive W.I.N. (what I need) opportunities throughout the school day. We expect the students to read and keep a log each day. There is no homework on Fridays. TRE has students with severe nut allergies. Please refrain from sending products that have nuts (or products manufactured in plants that process nuts) for snacks or for lunch. We truly appreciate your attention and sensitivity to this matter.
