10. Anagram
Formula: Each line of an anagram begins with a letter of the subject and should describe the subject.
Example:

11. Build-A-Poem Formula Line 1: one word, topic Line 2: two words, colors
Line 3: three words, adjectives

Formula:
A haiku has three lines. Typically, the topic is nature. Line 1 should have five syllables, line 2 should have seven syllables, and line 3 should have seven syllables. (5-7-5)

17. Limericks
Formula:
A limerick is a 5-line poem meant to be humorous. The rhyme pattern is a a b b a with lines 1, 2, and 5 containing 3 beats and rhyming, and lines 3 and 4 having two beats and rhyming.

18. Limericks Example: A flea and a fly in a flue
Were caught, so what could they do?
Said the fly, “Let us flee.”
“Let us fly,” said the flea.
So they flew through a flaw in the flue.

19. Limericks Quick Practice: There once was a pauper named Meg

20. Painted Poetry
Painted writing is a way of placing words on paper to give a visual effect to match the feeling of the writing. The shape expresses what the writing is about. Use strong, colorful language to describe the topic of the poem. Remember to think about your five senses.
