3 Cannon Falls Info If you CANNOT compete at Cannon Falls, we need to know TODAY! Your name must be on the CANNOT COMPETE registration sheet. We are charged for our registrations as of 3 p.m. tomorrow. If you do not show up Saturday to compete, you will have cost the team $ Please be responsible. Coach Adam

4 Cannon Falls Info Bus leaves at 7 a.m. – Be here by 6:50 a.m. – Meet at the flag pole 3 rounds/ no finals Novice Rounds – First time ever competitors in speech will compete against other first time competitors Bring a lunch or $$$ for lunch (Please no peanut products – severe allergy issues) Dress warmly – Some categories will travel/walk to the elementary building Coach Adam

12 Goal Setting Nieland – We’ll have them take out their BLUE goal sheets. Those who don’t have one will get one.

13 Goal Setting—Tip 1 Specific Goals focused on skills
Poor Example 1: I will earn a ribbon at all meets Poor Example 2: I will do better than I did last year Great Example: I will show clean and clear characterization through the use of character positions and voices. Coach Lyke

14 Goal Setting—Tip 2 Goals should be measurable
Great Example: I will show clean and clear characterization through the use of character positions and voices How to measure it: By the Farmington meet, no judge will comment on how my character voices/positions are too slow, inconsistent, or ill-fitting Senior Captains

15 Goal Setting—Tip 3 The steps you’ll take to achieve your goal should also be specific Poor Example 1: I will practice Poor Example 2: I will work with a peer Great Example: I will (1) work with my coach on my protagonist’s accent, (2) watch example videos on YouTube pertaining to vocal variety, (3) practice my piece at home at least 30 min. a day—5 days a week, and (4) ask for tips from __ – my teammate – who already does this well Coach Adam
