Be sure to get your necessary signatures each practice/meeting!
Make sure your name is at the top!
Turn in your BLUE point sheets the week after Sections, April 11-13
If you are not on the Section Team, bring your point sheet to the April 10th mtg.

5. Guest Coach Practices-Nieland
— For the SECTION TEAM ONLY —
This week, March 28-30; after spring break, April 11-12
Each speaker must attend one guest coach practice, each week.
There is an online sign up (details on a future slide)
If you need a specific timeframe or want to work with a specific guest coach you’ll want to do this, otherwise you can just drop in
Disco. team members have already been signed up (Tues.)
You are welcome to drop in and do a 2nd/3rd guest-coach-practice if it fits into the coaches’ schedules (encouraged)
You still must also practice once each week with one of us (Lyke/ Logeman/Nieland /Monson): we want you to be prepared!
These are ‘drop-in’ practices

6. Guest Coach Practices - Lyke
Use the online sign up in the Super Secret Speech Folder
If you need a specific timeframe or want a specific guest coach, use this.
Please sign up by 9:00PM the night before.
You can just drop in, but then no promises on time/ availability.
You’re welcome to drop in and do a 2nd/3rd guest-coach-practice if it fits into his/her schedule (This is encouraged!)
Disco: Your Practices, both with a Coach and a Guest Coach, have been scheduled for you. Reserve Tuesdays (March 28th & April 11th) from 3:10- 5:10 for said practices.
Ex. Speakers/Ex. Readers/Storytellers: Please prep a speech/excerpt/story of your choice prior to arriving to practice.

9. Family & Friends Showcase - Adam
Monday, April 10
ALL attend and perform! (Not just the section team)
Bring 1 dozen cookies/bars (beverages are provided)
Meet in the Rocket Center @7 p.m.
After a short overview of the year, you’ll break out into assigned rooms
Done around 8:30 p.m.
Be sure to invite your family, friends, teachers…
This is the same day as our final Team Meeting
If you’re not competing at Sections, turn in Blue Point Sheets at this event

10. Section Meet – April 13 - Nieland
Go to Hours 1-4; Excused Hours 5-8
11:30 – Travel to Godfather’s Pizza
11:30-1:00 – Lunch at Godfather’s (FULL team is invited!)
We have the party room reserved!
Bring money for lunch. See Nieland if this is an issue.
Due to time constraints, all eat at the buffet : $7.99+tax (more if you get a drink)
1:00 – Travel back to JM
1:15 – Board bus for Northfield (leave no later than 1:30)
2:30 – Arrive at Northfield

11. Section Meet Info. - Lyke
Bring lunch/dinner or $$ for lunch/dinner
Dress professionally.
NOTHING too short/too tight/too low cut.
Choose shoes wisely.
Be sure what you wear works for your piece.
Act professionally. Judges see and hear you in the hallways.
Do not talk about judges.
Do not talk about opponents.

12. Section Meet Info. - Adam
City schools will wait outside the room until the judge arrives to enter. Be aware of this practice and do the same.
Informative speakers – Set up your easel/boards inside. Then step outside and wait for the judge.
Top 3 in each category go to STATE, Friday, April 21st at Eagan High School
If you CANNOT compete at STATE, you cannot compete at SECTIONS! Let Nieland know ASAP if you are in this situation.

13. Sections – April 13 - Nieland
ALL non-draw categories: 10 minute time limit.
Draw categories: you will draw from ALL stories and/or topics – you will draw for EACH round. 7 minute time limit.
Ex. Spk. & Disco: NO WIFI during prep/rounds.
Discussion: ALL sections from the outline will be fair game.
There is no “Grace” period.
When/if you see the STOP card from the Timer, finish the sentence you are on and look like you ALWAYS end your speech here and in this way.
