3 Student Planners/Homework
Students record all homework and important dates/reminders in their planner Homework is an extension of the learning experiences children have during the instructional day Daily HW in Language Arts will be a participation grade Daily HW in Math will be a participation grade Science/Social Studies homework is graded on occasion Problems with Behavior and/or Work/Study will be written on chart

4 All homework is on the board for students to copy into their planners.
Homework break down Reading – A.R. reading; skill sheet(s) Social Studies – as needed Math – Practice pages from lesson and drill practice as needed Science – Lesson reading; other as needed All homework is on the board for students to copy into their planners.

5 Behavior/Work Study Skills
Fifth Grade teachers have very high expectations for behavior Daily Behavior/Work Study habits contribute to weekly/term grades Students receive reminders; if problems continues, their chart will be marked Performance Codes E= Very consistent demonstration S= Consistent demonstration N= Inconsistent demonstration BEHAVIOR WORK/STUDY SKILLS 1. Follows Rules 5. Works cooperatively 2. Demonstrates self-control 6. Works independently 3. Respects adults and peers 7. Exhibits on-task behavior 4. Handles conflicts and problems appropriately 8. Completes assignments 9. Follows directions

6 BEHAVIOR CHART Students will receive a weekly chart to keep track of their behavior. The behavior chart is used to facilitate our reward system. Students will earn rewards based on their points at the end of the week. Each student has the opportunity to earn 100 points a week, plus bonuses, for taking care of their weekly responsibilities. Please view your students behavior chart nightly. Charts will be collected each Thursday. We will then calculate the points earned and assign their behavior and work study grades. Please sign the chart when it comes home in the Friday Folder. It is to be returned on Monday.

Gradebook Website: Check grades each week (*Access through the Focus app on ClassLink) You can even set up reminders to notify of changes in your child’s grades. Students will be required to log-in to check grades and progress. Report cards will not be printed and sent home this year. They will be available on the Focus app.

Addresses Language Arts Florida Standards (LAFS) Comprehensive curriculum that includes comprehension, vocabulary, phonics, grammar, fluency, and writing

15 Accelerated Reader Students will work toward individual goals (School wide focus on number of words read) Incentives awarded at the end of nine weeks for students meeting their goals Tests may not be taken after school Parents may view progress from home, but tests may not be taken from home Home Connect **See your child’s A.R. Log for instructions as to how to track your child’s progress**

17 Math Go Math 1 Textbook and 1 Workbook
Each chapter’s packet is pulled from the textbook Workbook is used for homework and classwork Ready Supplement instruction *Online access through the Think Central app on ClassLink*

18 Division We will be focusing on our division facts this year
Students will be monitored on their fact fluency through a 5-Minute Dril Facts tested are 2-12s. Students will be expected to do 100 fact in 5 minutes.

This year 5th graders will study: the geography of our country the history of our country up to 1850 In addition we also study: - Celebrate Freedom Week - Constitution Day - Civics Education - Black History & Women’s History Months **Students have a consumable social studies book this year.**

29 Roberts Fall Festival What you need to know:
Family Time- We encourage all Roberts families to attend the event. Even if it is for a few hours. The children’s new classmates and their families will be there along with their teachers. Fundraiser- One of largest fundraisers and the $$ supports technology upgrades and other classroom enhancements. Volunteering- It is appreciated and strongly encouraged for every parent in the school to volunteer one 1-hour shift. Preferred slots go fast so SIGN-UP tonight!! Highschool children can also volunteer!! Tickets-wristbands will go on sale closer to the event. The band can be used for all games and activities. $20 for 1 $30 for 2 $40 for 3 and $50 for Children under 5 bracelet is $5 Bring the whole family- We will have several dinner options for the entire family including a family pack with wristbands
