Hutchinson opened its first factory in Serbia in 2016.
Production complex 'HUTCHINSON' is located in Serbia in Industrial Zone of municipalities Ruma. In total coverage of 9000m² it is divided in tree sections: production section, administrative section and warehouse.
Ruma is located over 60 km from the country’s capital Belgrade. The local authorities provided 7.8 hectares of land for the new production facility.
The value of investment in Ruma has been estimated at EUR 7,3 m.
Hutchinson is operated by a global workforce of more than 35,200 employed at 96 facilities in 23 countries. Of these, over 21,400 workers are employed at the French group’s 63 sites in Europe, according to figures from Hutchinson.

STRANDBADKIRCHBICHL is a visionary design project involving the construction of a new office building in a remote mountain region of Austria, with a design which reflected the crashing waves coming in from the nearby beach. Great technical skill and knowledge of interior systems was required in order to optimize lighting, acoustics and sound absorption within a very complex curved shaped structure which would not naturally provide this level of performance.
This presentation will also be used on the book and on the website to present your project.

A particulary demanding section of the project was during the drywall installation. It was challenging to achieve the desired level of sound insulation fulfilling at the same time the fire resistance requirements for up to 120min of fire resistance for partition.

Suspended ceilings are EI90 fire resistant and based on Rigips metal studs CD/UD, Nonius hangers and 3 layers of fire resistant boards 15mm thickness.

Acoustics and light are the dominating elements in this project. The challenge was to allow maximal use of natural daylight using an unusually large funnel and integrating artificial lighting to complement natural light. The design however also had to provide an excellent level of acoustic performance in a challenging large open plan structure with high windowed ceilings. In addition to a combination of acoustics, sound absorption and light, there was particular emphasis on architecture and functionality through to the final finishing coating (Q4 surface quality) in order to meet the rigorous project standards.
