Mid October Take the PSAT Spring -Take the SAT and ACT Spring- Ask teachers for letters of recommendation Continue to research colleges Spring – Attend Open Houses Spring/Summer Visit Colleges Prepare for SAT by going to

2 Timeline- Spring- Junior Year
March 15th - Attend National College Fair at Buffalo Convention Center (Permission Slip Required in Advance) Visit Career/Counseling Center- research colleges and careers March 7th - Attend College and Career Information Day (CCI NCCC Permission slips to BOTH College Fair and CCI Day Due to Ms. Szegda in Career Center by 2:15 Feb. 16th!! No Exceptions.

**April 7th-1-2:30PM NW High School-ALC Or April 4th-6:30PM Starpoint High School Auditorium *Dan Tramuta from SUNY Fredonia will be presenter **Students attending the April 7th NW High School MUST sign up in Counseling Canter

Summer- Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center if you will be playing sports at a Division I or II school Narrow down list of colleges Summer – Start filling out college applications Make College Visits Come to the Career Center

September – October Narrow down list of schools 3-5 Register to re-take SAT/ACT Exams Attend NOCA College Fair/Visit with College Reps in Career/Counseling Center Visit Schools/Coaches/Professors Attend Open Houses Finish college applications WATCH DEADLINES!!!!

OCTOBER 1st– Finish College APPLICATIONS!! OCTOBER 1st- Apply for Financial Aid at WATCH DEADLINES!!!!

8 PSAT EXAM Administered to Juniors and some Sophomores in October 2016
Scores and test booklets were distributed to students in mid December Many students have already accessed scores online Students can use their PSAT results to help prepare for SAT Students should sign up for Khan Academy PSAT exam is similar to NEW SAT

9 When do I take the exams and how often?
“Rule of thumb” SAT: Spring of junior year AND Fall of senior year ACT: Spring of junior year AND/OR SAT Subject Tests: Spring of junior year AND/OR Fall of senior year IF REQUIRED

14 How to register? Online (ACT) (SAT) You can choose to have your scores sent to four colleges at no additional charge. Many colleges will no longer take scores off the transcript, they require scores be sent directly from testing agency.
