2 CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE WORKSTREAMS 2015/16 Commissioning Plans
NHS Thurrock CCG has a very ambitious programme of work within 2015/16; Neurodevelopmental Delays Pathway - The multi-agency Neurodevelopmental Delays all-age Pathway group has agreed to focus on three core areas: ASD, ADHD and Tourette’s. The aim of this work is to streamline services, create efficiencies and develop better outcomes for CYP and their families. Sickle Cell novation - A project group has been established to review the current sickle cell pathway. The aim of the group is to establish whether the current configuration of services between BTUH and NELFT are delivering the optimum patient outcomes. Providers and commissioners feel there is an opportunity to make the pathway more integrated within the existing resources. Children with Long-term Conditions - The National Child and Maternal Health Intelligence Network Has launched a new tool called: Improving Services Toolkit: children with long-term conditions. This Improving Services Toolkit supports commissioners who are aiming to redesign services for children with long-term conditions. It provides evidence and data which can be used to help develop strategies and business cases. It examines emergency hospital admissions for children because of asthma, diabetes or epilepsy. It also looks at how long these children spend in hospital, and presents information specifically on how they were admitted, and levels of activity at different providers. Community Paediatrics – Commissioners plan to review community paediatrics to understand opportunities to integrate services, redesign & improve efficiencies for a community/ MH model. Joint Children & Young People Strategy – developing a joint strategy between the CCG and LA for Thurrock’s children & young people to inform the direction of travel for children’s commissioning across the district over the next three years.
