1 The Importance Of Nurses
Tell The World Project The Importance Of Nurses

2 PROJECT: LETTER TO THE EDITOR OF THE DAILY NEWS RECORD
PURPOSE: TO INFORM THE LOCAL COMMUNITY HOW IMPORTANT NURSES ARE AND WHAT ROLE THEY PLAY IN THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM The Importance Of Nurses By: Roubinah Niaz l Submitted to: Daily News Record What does it mean to be a nurse? Being a nurse takes a special kind of person. The person who chooses to become a nurse enters a profession with large responsibility that occasionally involves dealing with individuals who are experiencing the most vulnerable and important moments in their life. Nurses are an irreplaceable and valuable part of any healthcare system. Their job requires intelligence and complex training, but in addition compassion and attentive care. A nurse is an expert clinician, healer, scientist, health translator, teacher, communicator, guide, and family supporter. All of that are needed to guarantee the health and wellness of individuals, families, and communities. Nurses deal with physical pressures, emotional situations, and at times, mentally taxing experiences. In order to successfully treat and care for patients, nurses must rely on their inherent qualities, as well as the ones they gain along the way, to grow to be what many consider the ‘ideal’ nurse. Nurses can work in a range of health care settings, such as private physicians' offices, hospitals, and nursing facilities. Because nurses may choose to specialize in specific types of treatments, health conditions, patient populations or body systems, particular job duties can differ with specialties. In a regular day, nurses may administer medication, consult with other healthcare professionals, observe patients, educate individuals and family, and be responsible for managing medical records. They have got to also stay up-to-date with new tools and technology to help give the best care to patients and the best support to doctors and other healthcare professionals. As one of the fastest growing occupations in America, there is a bigger need in the country and across the world to hire nurses than any other healthcare worker in the industry. The reason being for a high demand in nurses is for the increased access to healthcare and an aging Baby Boomer population. Without nurses, there will be no one to care for your loved ones and no one to manage people with acute and chronic illnesses.

3 Take Away This project taught me the different ways you can “tell the world” about being a nurse and the nursing profession. It made me realize just how important it is being a nurse and how much we are needed in this world. By informing the community, it helps for them to better understand what our job is and how much we make a difference in every patient’s life.
