5 F A T P P is for PURPOSE What is the purpose for your writing?
Do I need to persuade or convince my audience about my point of view on the topic? (=Argument writing) Do I need to explain something (the topic) or inform my audience about the topic? (=Expository writing) Do I need to describe or create an experience for the reader? (=Narrative)
