A Grant Approach: Building and Improving Local Capacity.

2 Local Context Leicestershire County being a diverse county with significant pockets of deprivation and rurality Comparisons between FSM,IDACI averages and RWM achievements Seek to prove the effectiveness of a third-sector led approach to holiday activity co-ordination through the partnership with Barnardo’s Barnardo’s coordination role for application, took the decision not to be the deliverer but bring together a number of specialists. 8 Management Information and Funding Process
The DfE have specified that the conditions of the grant means that we must collect the following information The young person’s gender Date of Birth First name Surname Which school they attend as at 16/5/19 Home postcode

9 Management information
This information will be used to populate the Management Information file together with registering the sessions the children attend throughout the programme – preferably updated online The data collected will be reviewed and matched to the National Pupil Database

10 DfE Evaluation Parent and children surveys
The DfE have asked that each project obtains 30 parent surveys and 100 children surveys. We will try the best approach for sampling for these surveys to ensure we have an approach that allows a good level of methodological accuracy but equally ensures that it is easily achievable and manageable for co-ordinators and providers The children surveys will be carried out midway through the project so most likely when we do the Quality Assurance checks to help facilitate. The surveys are designed to be carried out online for ease. The parent surveys are due to be carried out at the beginning of the project and are designed to be accessed online.

11 Obtaining funding As per the contracts issued 2 payments will be made.
1. The first payment 50% of the agreed contract will be made at the end of July/beginning of August. Barnardo’s will require an invoice showing the number of children registered for both standard places and additional needs places to coincide with the number of places bid for. 2 The second payment will be made at the end of August/beginning of September when the management information has been submitted. Barnardo’s require an invoice from the supplier again matching the bid and contract.

12 Finance Please ensure invoices are sent to me as PDFs The following needs to clear Name Address Bank Sort Code Bank account number Please ensure payment terms are shown as immediate

13 Quality Assurance Visit
Each supplier will receive at least one visit during their programme of activities (those with more that one setting may received more than one visit) Visits will be carried out by Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport Visits are meant to be informal and an opportunity to learn more about your provision (they are not formal assessments). We will be looking at / for: Examples of Physical Activities Examples of Food Standards and Food Education Examples of Enriching Activities We would also like to use the visit as an opportunity (with the relevant permissions) to develop case-studies, take pictures and get qualitative quotes from participants. We may also be asking if we can undertake surveys to support the DfE with their data collection

16 Other Information Information Website
We have created a supplier website which will contain information related to the programme which may be of use to you.  The site will be updated regularly with new information – please keep checking: Physical Activity & Sport Offer As part of this programme we are exploring the opportunity to offer all suppliers the option to have a external physical activity specialist coach come in to support delivery of a number of your sessions.  For example we have a partnership with Leicester City Football Club Community Team and we would aim to work with them to send in one of their coaches to deliver a session on your behalf.  It is hoped that this will support you to deliver the physical activity requirement but also support you to widen the activities that you could offer. If you would like to receive this option then please can you let LRS know Loughborough University Research Project Loughborough University are undertaking a project looking at the role of holiday clubs in have in children’s eating.  They have asked us to ask any suppliers if they would be willing to support with this through visiting your sessions – please find attached a letter with more information.  Again if this is something that you can support then please let LRS know
